I am an Earth Scientist, currently a PhD student in Geophysics at Stanford University and starting a position as a Research Associate at the University of Manchester in December 2023. My main research interests are groundwater sustainability, with a particular focus on remote sensing and land subsidence. I am also passionate about the translation of research into real-world change. Outside of research, I am an enthusiastic squash player/addict and love reading travel books. Please take a look around my site to learn more about my work and research interests.
I will be presenting a talk at Society of Exploration Geophysicists' (SEG) Hydrogeophysics monthly webinar on Oct 18th, 8am (PT). Details and registration can be found here: https://seg.org/calendar_events/using-insar-for-groundwater-science-and-management-in-californias-san-joaquin-valley/ .
I defended my PhD thesis, entitled "Advancing the Use of InSAR for Groundwater Science and Management in California’s San Joaquin Valley", on October 4th 2023. A recording of the public defense can be found at: (LINK TO BE FORTHCOMING).
My latest journal article, "Integrating shallow head measurements and InSAR data to quantify groundwater-storage change in San Joaquin Valley, California (USA)" was published in Hydrogeology on Sep 23rd 2023. Please find the open access link here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10040-023-02705-7
I presented a paper at TISOLS 2023 (https://www.tisols.org/), titled: "1D Compaction Modelling for Subsidence Prediction in California’s San Joaquin Valley". Please see publications/presentations on my research page for information about the talk and associated paper.
I was coauthor on two presentations at AGU 2022. The presentation information can be found at these links:
Neely et al.: 1D Compaction Modeling for the Kaweah and Tule Groundwater Subbasins in California’s San Joaquin Valley. https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm22/meetingapp.cgi/Paper/1187301
Lopez et al.: Quantifying the Impact of Groundwater Pollution on the Mortality Rate in the Central Valley of California. https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm22/meetingapp.cgi/Paper/1192857
Please contact me if you are interested to discuss either of these presentations.
I was at Sustain Valencia 2022 (https://sustain2022.webs.upv.es/). Please contact me if you want to hear more about my talk, title: "A New Approach to Estimating Groundwater Storage Changes in California's Central Valley".
I was at GRAC 2022 - it was great to meet so many folks passionate about groundwater there. My two posters can be accessed here. Please feel free to contact me by email if you want to follow-up on anything from the conference.
