Matthew Lees

I am an Earth Scientist, currently a Research Associate in the Agriculture, Water and Climate group at Manchester University. My main research focus is remote sensing data for water management and science, with particular interests in groundwater, InSAR and land subsidence. I am also passionate about the translation of research into real-world change. Outside of research, I am an enthusiastic squash player/addict and love reading travel books. I defended my PhD thesis, entitled "Advancing the Use of InSAR for Groundwater Science and Management in California’s San Joaquin Valley", on October 4th 2023. A recording of the public defense can be found at: (LINK TO BE FORTHCOMING).
I presented a talk at Society of Exploration Geophysicists' (SEG) Hydrogeophysics monthly webinar on Oct 18th, 8am (PT), "Using InSAR for Groundwater Science and Management in California’s San Joaquin Valley".
